I have a pain in my lower back and a menstrual like cramps?

When I’m on my stomach I get strong menstrual like cramps. I also have a pain on my lower left-side of my back. I was tested for liver problems and ovarian cysts this fall, and tested negative. I don’t get my period regularly, and doctors don’t know why. (I haven’t had it in 2-3 months now) They keep running tests I can’t afford. I was wondering if anyone knows what could be wrong or how to make it better. Sometimes Advil makes the pain go away for a while, but it continues afterwards. I had this happen before, it lasted a few –PAINFUL– days to a week. I thought it might be the bed I’m sleeping on. Also I’m not pregnant, I’m still a virgin. I’m totally not sure what to do. :( Help?

Edit: I have been tested for PCOS and it was negitive. That was in the fall.

I think you should ask your Dr about PCOS (Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome). Some of the symptoms include irregular periods, inexplicable weight gain, hair loss and an inability to become pregnant. Because of the irregular periods alone and the pain I would ask then about PCOS. You pain could be from ovarian cysts which present themselves often in women with PCOS.

I can only give you a possible answer based on my personal experience. I was having pain in my right ovary area and in my lower right back and had ultrasounds and testing and they were all negative. Advil helped me temporarily also. After dealing with the annoying pain for so long and no answer, my gynocologist did exploratory surgery and found that I did indeed have a small patch of endometriosis on the back of my uterus. He said he wasn’t sure if that was the cause of my pain, but removed it anyway. After the surgery he put me on birth control pill for a few months and had me skip the sugar pills so I would not get a period. Since then I’ve had no more pain. I’m not sure if you are willing to get exploratory surgery, but it was really no big deal at all. They just did it through 2 very tiny holes and I never had any pain at all. Anyway, good luck and I hope you get something figured out.
